The Challenge

Minibin, a waste removal provider in South Australia, had been targeted by a cybersecurity vulnerability, in which the company was forced to take its business offline. The existing framework had become deprecated and was no longer supported, and simply updating the framework was not an option. They were losing 3 figures per day due to the threat ($10958.9)

The Solution

Kiratech was asked to rehabilitate the framework and website with enhanced security measures and transforming its business into a fully digital system. Using the Incremental Product Development Cycle approach, a new iteration of the website and ordering system was created, enabling the business to be 100% paperless while securing the design on a stable framework, with continuous updates to prevent similar downtime in the future.

CentOS containers, running PHP/MySQL

Custom CSS applicable to desktop and mobile devices

A digital dashboard for orders and price management

Integration with Xero accounting software

Automated generation of waste statistics for cost calculations

Our Process

The new software was developed on Amazon’s infrastructure using CentOS containers and PHP/MySQL. The web-responsive design used custom CSS applicable to destock and mobile devices. Using Drupal for its framework enabled expedited development and compatibility across multiple operating systems and devices while Docker allowed for automated resource expansion based on lead demand.
